About The Beautiful Bags Lady
In 2005, Carolyn began making little crafts with scraps from previous projects. Being the wife of an environmentalist, the concerns of plastic and their use as bags inspired her to make a few simple cotton bags for her family to use for shopping. As more information came out about plastics and their massively produced “reusable” counterparts, the more she and her family relied on her washable bags. Carolyn's bags have been used for overnights, grocery shopping, lunch bags, purses, and much more. When using her bags, you don't need to worry about the mess the meat might make, fitting two gallons of milk, or even the bag breaking on you, because her bags are guaranteed to handle it all.

Why Cotton and Not Plastic?
Our goal is to reduce the use of plastic bags which is why our washable, reusable bags are made with 100% cotton fabric with NO PLASTIC used in construction. We have all heard about the dangers of plastic bags and their impact on the environment, but the truth is there is risk to us as well. Every plastic bag reused for food increases your risk of foodborne illness such as food poisoning, botulism and E. coli. And it’s not just plastic bags; but the polypropylene $1.99 bags you can find in many shops as well.
The bottom line is, if you can’t wash it, don’t use it for food. Many countries and even U.S. cities have either banned or tax the use of plastic bags for just that reason. California has a state-wide ban of plastic shopping bags while all counties in Hawaii ban non-biodegradable bags. Cotton is a light material, so it is easy to carry while you are shopping, yet sturdy enough to handle heavy grocery items and the washing machine. Between trips to the grocery and retailer, toss the bag in the washer! Or better yet, get a couple and wash them at the end of the day. |
